6-Day Luxury Tanzania Lodge Safari: 3 Iconic Parks in Pure Comfort

Why Choose a Luxury Tanzania Lodge Safari?
A luxury lodge safari offers the classic African wildlife experience with a higher level of comfort before and after each game drive. You still spend your days searching for lions, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs and other wildlife, but your evenings may include spacious rooms, private decks, en-suite bathrooms, attentive staff, excellent meals and beautiful views.
This itinerary is private, meaning there is no fixed group schedule inside your safari vehicle. You can decide when to begin the day, how long to stay at a wildlife sighting and whether you prefer a picnic lunch in the park or a return to camp for a relaxed meal.
The route has been selected to cover three distinct ecosystems. Tarangire is known for elephants and baobabs. Serengeti provides the broad savannah and big-cat encounters that many travellers hope to experience. Ngorongoro Crater delivers a dramatic final day in one of Africa’s most concentrated wildlife areas.
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Begin Your Luxury Tanzania Safari
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, where a representative from EKO TANZANIA ADVENTURES will meet you and transfer you to your Arusha hotel.
Arusha is the main safari gateway in northern Tanzania. It lies beneath Mount Meru and provides a comfortable place to rest after an international flight. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy the hotel gardens, have a quiet dinner or simply relax before the safari begins.
Your private guide will provide a safari briefing and discuss the coming route. You can share your specific interests, whether that means big cats, elephants, birdlife, photography, cultural experiences or simply a peaceful pace with plenty of time to enjoy the landscape.
Overnight: Luxury hotel or premium lodge in Arusha
Meals: Dinner, depending on arrival time and package arrangement
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Elephants and Baobab Trees
After breakfast, leave Arusha and drive towards Tarangire National Park. The journey generally takes around two to three hours, depending on road conditions and stops. As you approach Tarangire, the landscape becomes more open, with dry woodland, acacia trees, grassland and giant baobabs.
Tarangire is particularly well known for its elephant population. Large family herds move through the park, especially during the dry season when animals gather near the Tarangire River. During your private game drive, you may also see zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, buffaloes, impalas, warthogs and a wide variety of bird species.
The park’s scenery is one of its greatest strengths. Baobab trees rise above the plains, and the river attracts wildlife throughout the year. Lions, leopards and cheetahs live in the area, although all wildlife sightings depend on the conditions of the day.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at an approved location or return to your lodge for lunch if your accommodation location allows. In the afternoon, continue with a slow game drive before travelling to your luxury lodge or tented camp in the Karatu or Mto wa Mbu area.
Overnight: Luxury lodge or premium tented camp near Karatu or Mto wa Mbu
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park – The Great Plains Await
Enjoy breakfast before travelling towards Serengeti National Park. The route takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the landscape changes from lower, drier country to cooler highlands and then opens into the immense Serengeti grasslands.
There may be an opportunity to stop at a permitted viewpoint overlooking the Ngorongoro Crater, depending on timing and road conditions. Continue through the conservation area and enter Serengeti, where game viewing begins immediately.
The Serengeti is famous for its seemingly endless plains, granite kopjes, acacia woodland and spectacular concentration of wildlife. On the journey to your camp, you may encounter lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, elephants, gazelles and many birds. The route and wildlife focus will be adjusted according to the season and the animals present in the area.
Arrive at your premium tented camp or luxury lodge in the afternoon. After settling into your suite or tent, take time to enjoy the views, freshen up and relax before dinner. Luxury tented camps offer a special atmosphere: the feeling of being in the wilderness combined with a comfortable bed, private bathroom and quality hospitality.
Overnight: Luxury lodge or premium tented camp in Serengeti
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 4: Full-Day Serengeti Safari – Big Cats and Wild Beauty
Today is dedicated to exploring Serengeti National Park. Your guide can arrange an early morning game drive when the light is soft and wildlife is often active. Lions may be moving through the grass, elephants may be feeding among the trees, and predators can be easier to spot before the heat builds.
The Serengeti is one of the best places in Tanzania to observe the relationships between predators and prey. Cheetahs may be found in open grassland, leopards may rest in trees near riverine areas, and lions are often seen in prides around kopjes or shaded woodland. Hyenas, jackals, vultures and smaller scavengers are also important parts of the ecosystem.
A private safari allows you to shape the day around your interests. Photographers may want to stay longer at a sighting to wait for better light or behaviour. Birdwatchers may prefer to spend time around wetlands and woodland. Couples may enjoy a relaxed picnic in a scenic area or return to camp for a long lunch and afternoon rest.
The Great Migration moves through different parts of the Serengeti ecosystem throughout the year. If migration viewing is important to you, EKO TANZANIA ADVENTURES can recommend the best camp location and route for your travel dates. Wildlife movement is guided by rainfall and grazing conditions, so exact herd locations cannot be promised.
Return to camp in the late afternoon. Enjoy sunset, dinner and a quiet evening in the heart of the Serengeti.
Overnight: Luxury lodge or premium tented camp in Serengeti
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands – A Scenic Safari Journey
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Serengeti before travelling towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is not simply a transfer day; the route offers continued opportunities to see wildlife as the scenery gradually shifts from open plains to volcanic highlands.
Your guide will make suitable stops during the drive, allowing you to enjoy the views and take photographs. The route passes through one of Tanzania’s most important conservation landscapes, where wildlife, livestock and local communities exist within a carefully managed area.
Arrive at your luxury lodge or premium camp near the Ngorongoro Highlands or Karatu area in the afternoon. The temperature here is often cooler than in Serengeti, particularly in the evening. Relax at the lodge, enjoy the view and prepare for your Ngorongoro Crater safari the next day.
Overnight: Luxury lodge or premium tented camp near Ngorongoro or Karatu
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive and Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast, travel to the Ngorongoro Crater descent road. The crater is one of the most remarkable natural wildlife areas in Africa: a huge volcanic caldera enclosing grassland, forest patches, wetlands and Lake Magadi.
As your vehicle descends from the crater rim, the view opens across the floor below. The concentration of animals is impressive. You may see lions, buffaloes, wildebeest, zebras, hippos, hyenas, jackals, elephants and a broad variety of birdlife. Black rhinos live in the conservation area, though sightings depend on the animals’ location and visibility.
Your guide will take time to explore the crater floor, stopping at productive wildlife areas and explaining the ecology of the landscape. A picnic lunch is generally served at an approved site near a hippo pool before you ascend the crater in the afternoon.
After leaving Ngorongoro, drive back to Arusha for your hotel, Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport departure. If your flight is early the following morning, an additional hotel night in Arusha is recommended.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch

Important Travel Notes
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Tanzania’s national parks are natural ecosystems, and animals move freely according to food, water, weather and behaviour. Your guide’s experience gives you the strongest possible chance of a rewarding safari while keeping wildlife observation respectful.
This itinerary operates throughout the year. The best month for your trip depends on your interests. Dry-season travel can be excellent for general wildlife visibility, while green-season travel often offers dramatic scenery, fewer visitors in some areas and good opportunities for photography. If the Great Migration is your priority, we will advise on the most suitable dates and Serengeti location.
Luxury safari availability can be limited during peak travel months, particularly from June to October and around festive periods. Booking early gives you the best choice of camps and room categories.
